What you may dispute
- Information that does not belong to you or may result from an identity mismatch.
- A record, date, disposition, status, jurisdiction, identifier, or source attribution that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Duplicate, outdated, sealed, expunged, or otherwise non-reportable information.
- A covered PROFID Analytics calculation, factor mapping, summary, or unsupported statement that does not accurately reflect the underlying report.
- A correction or update that should have been reflected in your report.
How to submit a dispute
- Submit by email. Send your dispute to support@theprofid.com. You do not have to use a particular format or provide a particular attachment to preserve your dispute rights.
- Identify the information you believe is wrong. Describe each disputed item and explain why it is inaccurate or incomplete. A report or order number is helpful but is not required if PROFID can locate your file using other information.
- Provide supporting information when available. You may provide court records, identity-theft documentation, disposition records, identification, correspondence, or other relevant information. Supporting documents can help, but PROFID will not require a specific document that the law does not require.

Security. Do not send your full Social Security number or an unencrypted identity document by ordinary email. PROFID may provide a secure upload method.
What happens after PROFID receives your dispute
- Receipt and identity verification. PROFID records the dispute, may request reasonable information to locate the correct file, and verifies identity before releasing sensitive information.
- Reasonable reinvestigation. PROFID reviews all relevant information you provide, checks its records and matching procedures, and contacts applicable sources or providers when needed.
- Timing. A reinvestigation is generally completed within 30 days after receipt. The period may extend to 45 days in circumstances permitted by law, including when additional relevant information is received during the investigation. A shorter period applies when required by state law.
- Correction or deletion. If disputed information is inaccurate, incomplete, or cannot be verified, PROFID will correct, delete, or suppress it as required by law. A corrected or superseding report replaces the affected prior version.
- Results. PROFID provides written results after the reinvestigation and, when the report changes, provides an updated report without charge. Results are generally sent within five business days after completion, subject to applicable law.
- Employer and Analytics updates. Where required, PROFID informs the requesting employer or other authorized recipient of a material correction. If the corrected information affected covered PROFID Analytics, the Analytics will be recalculated, corrected, or withdrawn as appropriate.
Your rights during the process
- A dispute is free of charge.
- You may submit additional relevant information while the reinvestigation is pending.
- Neither PROFID nor the employer may retaliate against you for exercising a protected dispute right.
- The employer should pause reliance on materially disputed information while a timely reinvestigation or required review is pending.
- If you disagree with the outcome, you may ask PROFID to add a brief statement of dispute to your file and provide other notices required by applicable law.
Report dispute vs. employer decision
Contact PROFID to dispute report information, identity matching, source attribution, or covered Analytics. Contact the employer about its job requirements, decision, individualized assessment, timing, or adverse-action notices. Some situations may require contacting both.
